>> Thanks again, Tracy. These are two very helpful links. I think, I'll call them tomorrow. Personal conversation may do better, than just sending a resume... Though I have an accent... <<

Send the resume first. If you haven't heard anything in a week, then call. The main purpose of a job application or resume is to AVOID GIVING THEM A REASON TO WRITE YOU OFF. You want to get past the initial screening (which is increasingly automated) and get a foot in the door. To interview, perchance to work. In this market you've beaten the odds by even getting to that point.

If you're looking for work in a midmarket like Columbus, I would think long and hard about pigeonholing yourself as a FoxPro developer on your resume or in your cover letter. (You ARE planning to send a tailored cover letter with every resume, showing some knowledge of the company and the position, right?) You want to present yourself as a skilled professional who is diligent, hardworking, and flexible and has a track record of success. Beyond that, don't tell them anything initially. Be a bit of a tease -- make them want to bring you in for an interview to find out more about you.

You're going to get a job, Nadya. A good job. You are clearly a capable professional programmer. You may have an accent but luckily for you it is that of a country with a great reputation for math and computer programming. Some smart company will snap you up and you will make more money than you ever imagined when you decided to immigrate here.

Go get 'em, young lady. This is a country where anyone with smarts and a willingness to work hard, harder than the competition, can succeed. I know you will.

Mike
