Even as a hardcore SF fan this I had this nowhere on my list of associations.
Europa is a name from a Greek legend, don't remember whether she was a goddes or was the guy who did her a god (or both). Both the continent and the Jupiter's satellite were named after her - it's just English where the two are spelled/pronounced differently.
