>>Yes, I guess that a 3-4 day job, all manual, is too hard to countenance.

>I don't think it is a 3-4 day job. I think it's more. And, as with all the other decisions about what's in the product, there are always trade-offs. I think having a bunch of walkthroughs to help people get started is a better choice than your suggestions, and if I had to make that choice, I'd pick the walkthroughs.

I'll let you know my opinion once I have reviewed the walk-throughs (which will be after the product ships).
I'd give the other things (I wanted) 5 days max.

Well I sure don't know the reason either. But I might **guess** that the list was cut/pasted from some MS material.

>>While I'm still very pleased with what has been delivered in VFP8, this is disappointing. Documentation, and specifically its ease of use and accuracy, is IMPORTANT, especially for attracting and KEEPING new VFP developers!

>Absolutely, which is why Ted and I spent a significant amount of time talking to some of the team about this last year, and we weren't the only ones.

And I still am ENCOURAGED that there has been substantive changes to the documentation.

>>As regards other enhancements requested since V3 making it into V8, I hope that this at least shuts up those who like to repeat the refrain that if it isn't seen within 2 versions it ain't gonna get in.

>FWIW, I started my session on queries and the Query Designer today by saying "Robert Green, who used to be the VFP Product Manager, once said 'If you've been asking for a feature for 3 versions, and we haven't done it, take a hint.' Robert's not on the Fox team any more." Then, I showed a lot of the incredible improvements in the QD/VD.

Glad you said that.
