I am not too sure how “liberal” Oregonians are. The north eastern part of the state in Ukiah, Oregon (population 200) is where my father grew up. This is survivalist country! We went into the local (one and only) eating establishment (where we had the best hamburger and shake we have ever enjoyed!) and there were three customers near the front door – two men and one woman. They were dressed in camouflage uniforms and were “locals” not military.
My grandmother passed away in 1953. After ordering our meal I told the lady behind the ordering window, “My grandmother was the county switchboard operator in Ukiah”. With no hesitation she said, “Betty Mills”! My grandmother had remarried thus the different last name. We had a long talk and I learned a lot about where they lived, etc. We were served our lunch by the ladies son who placed two bottles on our table. He said, “The green bottle is hot and the red one is hotter! We are survivalists"! I cracked up!

>I would imagine that with the liberal bent of Oregon that not many weapons are allowed to the private citizens. But, I'll bet you that the criminals have very nice ones for their own protection and use.
