Title:
VFP 7 to VFP 8 - REINDEX bloat..
VFP 6 - REINDEX could usually be expected to reduce the size of a CDX, depending upon how many UPDATES and INSERTS had occured since the previous REINDEX.
VFP 7 - it looks like REINDEX pre-allocates space to reduce the onset of bloat. In some case a VFP 6 CDX REINDEXED in VFP7 more than doubled in size. IMHO this represents a potential big performance hit, for anyone with very large CDX's that might previously have been cached. Has anyone done any tests to see if / how many UPDATES / INSERTS are required to cause the CDX to increase in size.
VFP 8 - Is this feature still present?
