>Finally, I might remind people of the truncated exchange between JVP and SB in which it was alleged that MVP status was a bargaining chip in a negotiation re supporting the MS position. This suggestion has not been rebutted and it places a question mark over the value of the award IMHO. All these uncertainties are a real shame for those who tirelessly support the community and deserve recognition.
I am not sure I completely understand any allegation here, but here goes. The MVP award is for contributions over the previous year. This means helping others find solutions to problems where MS products are being used. There are other factors like writing books, aricles, white papers, etc., but I think the significant weight is given to on-line contributions in news groups, CompuServer, UT, etc. The MVP award, AFAIK, is not a bargaining chip between the recipient and MS. At least it has not with me. MVP or not, who the hell would have wanted to jump in on that flame war between JVP and SB and start
de-bait-ing what it means to be an MVP or whatever?
