>I support your meetings and efforts, and I think letting people here on the VFP forum of the UT know that you started a C# user group is useful. But do you think it is appropriate to continue to post meeting announcements when here on the VFP forum when they don't relate to VFP? I see you also post this in the .NET forum of the UT, and I think it might make sense to only post it there now and not here every time. I might be wrong, and maybe people would agree or disagree with me. Just thought I'd ask about your thoughts on this and maybe others too.

Ken;

I congratulate Victor for his efforts and everyone involved. I think it is a great idea for Victor to post announcements about the C# user group on the VFP forum as well as the .NET forum! It is called “Marketing”. When you have a limited budget and means to announce your “product” you do your best to reach a wider audience.

Why not come to the VFP forum at the UT, where the greatest participation is felt! If Victor picks up one VFP forum user that had not before considered using C# then I think he has been successful.

Innovation is often the key to success. Why do things the “accepted way” when you can use your head and at least try to do a better job? Use every legitimate means at your disposal that will help increasing your audience. A person that has a passion for what they do will find a way to express himself/herself. Teaching is a passion!

Since we are known as a tight developer community, announcements that concern even a minority within our ranks are beneficial. Learning about C# is something many of us should be doing if we wish to remain developers over a longer period of time and have skills that will allow us to be more marketable. As I have a wife and two children in college I try to do my best to survive. Anything that I feel is positive towards my survival I will embrace.
