Klyix 1 works using the Zeos PostgreSQL drivers (freely downloaded).
I downloaded Kylix 3 Open Edition and tried to install the Zeos drivers but failed because Kylix 3 has a different file structure for the drivers so the Zeos driver didn't work. (The component compiler asked for a file that the driver didn't supply.).

But I just might switch to Java. Of course Mono might become real. Then I could use a little of what I learned from my recent C# job.

If you are looking for a GREAT GUI RAD tool in Linux that has a native connection to PostgreSQL then may I suggest the latest release of KDevelop + QT 3.x. The Qt-Designer 3.0 has a native PostgreSQL connection in it and you can connect from the Project submenu with a few clicks and a couple of supplied names: one for your connection and one for the name of the PostgreSQL database. This enables the data-aware widgets, so you can place the name of a field from a table into the 'controlsouce' property of a textbox, grid, etc... I was able, for example, to create a database edit form that would, in the previw mode, add, delete and modify records in a table and I didn't need to write a line of code. (I just finished experimenting with Visual TCL (vtcl) on my PostgreSQL tables and wrote a TCL form that did almost the same thing, but it is more of a Q&D solution, not the polish of the QT widget set.

>Anybody notice that Novell is using Linux? My guess is it will not help Sales. Novell still has life but the cancer of M$ is eating it away. They don't even have the M$ haters on their side.

Not only are they using it, but I believe that are going to create a compatibility layer between the current Novell file structures and Linux, so that it will be as easy to log onto a Novel network from a Linux dekstop as it is from a WinXX desktop. I can already do this using some GPL GUI apps that are already out there, but they aren't as clean yet as they should be. (i.d., it is a lot easier to do it from the command line...)
What I think Novell will do is switch totally to Linux and create a set of connection and admin tools that are totally Linux but destinctively Novell in appearance. However, since Linux can connect to DOS and FAT and VFAT file structures with ease, I don't expect them to use ext2 or the journaling system ext3. That would make their salvage facilities useless.

I run KDE and active the XWindows clipboard. Works for me. If you highlight a portion of text on one document, leave it highlighted and then click the center-wheel on your wheelmouse it should drop the highlighted text into your SO document.
