I've had a similar problem. I think something I found on the MS website encouraged me to just go to the CD with Explorer and explicitly run the VFP part of the setup. That worked fine.

>Yeah, they were read-only. Don't know if that was the problem though, because in the meantime, he decided to use the brute-force method and he went and messed with the registry and finally got it to start installing.

>>>One of my co-workers is trying to install VFP7 on a Windows XP Laptop and is having problems (he's installing from his hard-drive, after copying all the files from the install CD ... not sure why he's doing it this way, but it may be because he had the same problem installing from the CD ... he doesn't remember exactly why).

>>>The install goes through with the updating of the Windows Components, finishes that without a problem, but then refuses to go on to the next step, which is installing VFP7. Anyone know what's up with that?

Though a good deal is too strange to be believed, nothing is too strange to have happened.
- Thomas Hardy

Half the harm that is done in this world is due to people who want to feel important. They don't mean to do harm-- but the harm does not interest them. Or they do not see it, or they justify it because they are absorbed in the endless struggle to think well of themselves.

-- T. S. Eliot
Democracy is two wolves and a sheep voting on what to have for lunch.
Liberty is a well-armed sheep contesting the vote.
- Ben Franklin

Pardon him, Theodotus. He is a barbarian, and thinks that the customs of his tribe and island are the laws of nature.
