>Could you please expand on Linux clones for DBIII, IV... I hadn't heard of them.

First, StarOffice (or OpenOffice) connect to dBase (DBF) tables natively, and you can design forms, reports, queries, etc., with Writer, and connect them with menus. (PostgreSQL connects via ODBC).

Then there are these sites:
http://www.linuxgazette.com/issue33/kunkel.html (an old issue... lots of improvements now)

http://linux.techass.com/projects/xdb/
Here is an older listing which includes commerical products
http://cbbrowne.com/info/xbase.html

http://www.fship.com/ (like 2.5 or 2.6, but is oop)
Here is a free, 2-person version.
Gota run, I'm getting a new 2.2GHz PC workstation installed
