Reboots don't really solve any misconfiguration problems. One reason why folks have problems after they reinstall an app (another windows trick that isn't necessary in Linux) is that they forget to delete the "." directory under their home account before they reinstall. This often makes the reinstalled software work very poorly, if at all.

I use MDK, not RH, as you know. MKD's MCC app detected and installed my Samsung Ml-1210 laser and my LexMark Z52 perfectly, something that SuSE could not do, and certainly not something I wanted to try to do manually. What browser do you run? Is Evolution the app that is popping up and trying to reinstall itself? I had that problem once, and after I uninstalled Evolution the problem went away.
