hmmmm....
well ok...look at this then.

http://search.yahoo.com/bin/query?va=&vp=Delphi+Programming&vo=&ve=&h=w&bbase=Search&vl=&vc=&vd=all&vt=any&vss=i&vs=&vr=&vk=&r=all&g=0&n=20

Note that there are 19,000 hits...ALL of which deal with Delphi programming. I looked at about 20 of the sites...the ones I picked had new, fresh content and a LOT of downloads and tools.

now look at this...
http://search.yahoo.com/bin/query?va=&vp=Foxpro+Programming&vo=&ve=&h=w&bbase=Search&vl=&vc=&vd=all&vt=any&vss=i&vs=&vr=&vk=&r=all&g=0&n=20

Note that there are 2,290 hits. What is that ...about 12% of the Delphi one? If I change the search from "foxpro programming" to "visual foxpro programming" the hits drop to 1,020...oooh a whooping 6% of the Delphi one, right?

Current stats on Dice.com -- 51 Delphi jobs... 22 Foxpro jobs...if I seach visual foxpro I get 10 jobs but I'm sure most of the 22 Foxpro jobs include VFP. So whats that? Like 1/2 the jobs there ... riiight?

Now lets eyeball Amazon.com. Delphi serach results is 275 books. Foxpro search is 182 books. So that's around 66%.

So over all at best Foxpro has 12% as many websites, 50% as many jobs, and 66% as many books out as Delphi.

Plus the new version of Delphi (7) will work as a .NET language and share the Visual Studio .NET IDE..something that VFP does NOT (and probably never will) do. Right now I'm working on what will most likey be my last VFP application. VFP has been quite good to me I've used it since 3.0 came out...but you gotta roll with the changes and VFP is simply turning into a square peg in a round hole. Our current plans are to move to VB.NET or ASP.NET plus SQL Server. I'd like to hear from others that have made this transistion or that are planning on doing so soon.

As you said.. THE STATS SPEAK FOR THEMSELVES.

>>Furthermore you can do something as easy as looking at yahoo. Searches for Delphi - 373 hits. Visual Foxpro 34 hits.
>
>I maintain the link section on the UT. There are no significant or worthwhile Delphi sites. For Visual FoxPro there are several major ones. UT, VFUG, FoxWiki, FoxForum, FoxProHistory.
>
>If you look at the 373 hits you got on Yahoo, most have nothing to do with the programming language. Of the hits that have something to do with Delphi, the content is weak or out of date.
>
>>Quite fankly what's the damn differnece between 180 books and 117?
>>you looked at one web site and found a 53/73 difference. Now doesnt that like kinda tell you something right off the bat?
>
>Why do you dismiss one stat, and then say another is significant? Both numbers differ by 50%.
>
>> I mean come on wake up. geeze.
>
>The stats speak for themselves.
