Run the Network Identification Wizard as noted below, and tell it you are a business user running a network without a domain. Give it the name of your WorkGroup when prompted, and then add accounts to the other machines or server that can act as administrators on the local machine and users on the machine and also have permissions on the other machines. Right now, the user accounts are all relative to the other machines; you either need to grant local users rights on other machines or existing users on your network permission to log into your machine to inherit their rights.

>>>HI,
>>>
>>>I have a Windows 2000 server in my office serving files to 8 other computers, all runinng windows 2000 prof. I attempted to add a new dell laptop, running XP prof, to the network. All of the computers on the network can see the shares on the new dell laptop, but the new dell cannot see the shares on the other computers in the network. Does anyone know of any issues related to windows 2000 server and XP prof.

>>I assume that you are on a domain; if so, you have to let the laptop join the domain, and use a domain userid and password to log into XP (Open the System Applet, Computer Name, and run the Network Identification Wizard to properly establish the computer add domain access and use the Win2K DC for authentication.
