Change in plans I guess ... I used the link Sergey gave me to report the bug. You may want to do it again. If this thing has been around since 1998 then it may be a good idea to get EVERYONE on the UT to submit it :-).

Actually, it looks like it has been partially fixed in version 8. I just tested it and it is no longer a problem when the column's sparse property is set to true. It is still rearing its ugly head when the column's sparse property is false.
