An ethnology study 30 years ago revealed that Serbian peasants don't believe in vampires anymore. Or rather, they believe vampires existed, but the people don't get to become vampires because they were perforated while alive, so the vampire leaves in time, before death, and then it is not dangerous. The perforations they meant were the vaccines :).
