I'm going by memory here so YMMV. :)

I upgraded over a year ago from ME to XP Pro. There were several programs that I had that XP Install REQUIRED that I REMOVE from my system before it would install. The best I recall Mcafee was one of them and something else, I just can't remember what it was now. When I say remove, I mean Uninstall. There were some new drivers I had to go get after installing. Again, I just can't remember which ones, but everything came up with out them. It was pretty painless other than uninstalling the programs. The Mcafee had come with the system and was only provided to me from a restore CD, so it would not install once I had XP running. One evening and I was ready to go.
