Hello CT (as I know you from the Newsletters and all)

Good to know you are still interestd in CB and have downloaded the same and found it stable. Ed has done quite some work on it. Recently he split the BO to works with a DBC containing all the table and the second all the Views. We all (IMO all) will be glad if you will help us around at the forum regularly and on the SourceForge.net.

Could you checkout my DL for CB @ http://venussoftop.tripod.com/Bhavbhuti/ I have put up a builder for grid and a Drag and Drop TreeView, hope they are useful.

I had read Dan's message but was unable to help as I have not used those controls.

>>> BTW, you said CB *was* your baby.
>Well, kinda. It's always been Alan Griver's BABY ... but the first version was so mugambo buggy that several fellas took over with their own versions. I was one of those fellas. I put out my own version and started The Codebook Newsletter ... got recognized by Alan ... got hired by Alan (Flash) ... the rest is history.

>>> What are you using now?

>>> I was reading about Mere Mortals and am interested

>That is so true.

>>> Sounds too good to be true.
>It isn't ... that's why I picked it over all of the other frameworks (all of which are very good, BTW). But Kevin's is so much like the original there was no learning curve for me ... that was the big selling feature. It's not even the active participation of the developers using Mere Mortals as I can fix anything that goes wrong with that bad boy ... and might I add that some things go wrong ... but not a whole lot. It would have been a lot more work for me to try to rescue version 6.1X of Codebook than just buy Kevin's. That said, your message prompted me to download version 6.2 of the original Codebook, which is now in the public domain by the way, and it looks very stable. I'd have to check some things out before recommending it but someone did alot of work on the latest version. It even builds a project that can launch without errors! Whooo hooo. Unfortunately, it wasn't when I was looking into it at the first of this year.

>>> Do you have any experience with it?
>Extensive.
>
>>> If so, can CB apps be easily adapted to it?
>The answer to this is a definite ... it depends. The interface for the business object has changed significantly so you'll run into problems there. However, if you followed proper OO techniques the port should at least be possible.

>I look forward to meeting you.
