In fact, SQL Server is faster than FoxPro in most cases, and is MUCH faster under heavy load (i.e. large tables and lots of users). The only advantage FoxPro has over SQL Server is price.

One advantage SQL has over foxpro is that DBA's are required for SQL. Most businesses, however, really don't want a full time IT staff. Give them something that works, that will not add to their HR costs and is low maintenance. Your market is bigger if you offer products that don't require a SQL license and a DBA. DBA's can debate the speed and their need - but the broader segment of the market aint out there shopping for expensive SQL implementation or DBA's. They want something that works. You may find that most of the high selling off the shelf applications do not use sequel. Its nice that MS a nd DBA's have reasons to install SQL - but I don't think every business user is making the case "I need SQL for a back end".

For those smaller shops - VFP is faster!
