I, too, would recommend avoiding using a general field. For one thing, with a general field your table will be quite bloated.

Check out: Re: JPEG's sometimes fail in reports Thread #677600 Message #682037. I have not attempted this method with BMP files, but I don't see a reason why it it wouldn't work.
