When you said

>>There are things that I don't like about MS and things that I would like to see changed in VFP. However, MS is not the big ugly monster that many people make it out to be.<<

I had not realised you were referring to MVPs when you said this.

As for those you nominate: JVP openly states/stated that he only knows and promotes MS tools. I am unaware of any instance when he took the stance that MS was at fault, let alone a monster. It was always *we* who were at fault.

KP, who is attributed with the "dotNYET" label and whose mail sig says "VB is Dead", is indeed an interesting case. He was and is regarded as a bit of a guru in low-level COM stuff, which I guess explains his bitterness re dotNET.
I agree, MS would find it hard to fire him without a perception that he was being punished for criticising.

"... They ne'er cared for us
yet: suffer us to famish, and their store-houses
crammed with grain; make edicts for usury, to
support usurers; repeal daily any wholesome act
established against the rich, and provide more
piercing statutes daily, to chain up and restrain
the poor. If the wars eat us not up, they will; and
there's all the love they bear us.
