Thank you Craig and Tracy for your responses. The problem(s) we are having is in setting up the TCP/IP.
On WIN2000, we go into 'Network and Dial-up Connections/Local Area Connection/Properties - TCP/IP/Properties, and set the computer to find IP Address automatically, tell it where the DNS server is, etc.
We have done the same thing on the machines that have been upgraded from XPHome to XPPro. One in particular seemed fine for one day, then the next morning, it could not see the network! The only thing the person working on it was finally able to do was to use the system recovery disk and set it back to XPHome. THEN it worked OK! You see what I mean? Our DNS is running WIN2000 Server.
Thank you in advance for your help.

Politicians and diapers have one thing in common. They should both be changed regularly, and for the same reason.
