To compact the database:
-Using DAO : http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q196809
-Using ADO : http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q230501

There is nothing from VB to re-index. I don't know if it is still valid. Using DBFs, it was imperative, but not when using MDBs.
