Baron,

Did you find VBAOUTL9.CHM on your computer? I think it will have a slightly different name if you aren't using Outlook 2000.

You will not have to distribute any extra files with your .exe, however the target computer must have Outlook installed on it. MAPI is a more general approach, it simply requires that any MAPI compliant email client be installed on the machine (for example, Outlook Express qualifies, too).

One problem with Outlook is that later versions (or 2000 with Security Patch) will nag the user with a message every time your program sends an email. Unless you use some sort of workaround, like Outlook Redemption or the one proposed by Ed Rauh.

If you want more control of the situation, check out www.mabry.com (Mail/X Controls), and wwIPStuff at West-Wind. With both those solutions, the necessary components are bundled within your application.

I am interested to know how to do such things as add attachments, send a message via CC, and changing message importance levels. Also, would I have to include any files with my built EXE application which uses this object to send Outlook emails?
