It's been my experience in many venues that, when I have a problem, I can get better results by going directly to the source of the problem privately than by making a fuss in public. Thus, when one of my kids has a problem at school, I go first to the teacher. Most of the time, that's all it takes. When that doesn't work, I go up the chain. But I don't start by calling the principal without trying to solve it through the teacher.

I'm not afraid to make a fuss when I think it's warranted. (Ask some of my neighbors about my letters to the editor. <g>) But I'll always try to take care of a problem quietly if I think there's any chance of success. I do it in my private life, in my community work, and in my professional life. It has nothing to do with being an MVP.

Tamar

P.S. Please note the correct spelling of my name.
