For some reason - perhaps the selfsame reasons you mention - the framework I use only seems to use HelpContextId as a convenient place to store the number for the help system; help itself is invoked with a command like HELP _vfp.Activeform.HelpContextId.

As far as I could discern, HelpContextId wasn't used "automatically".
