Those remote administration features are NICE! We have developed a couple of products for the energy market. Our plan expects about 400 subscribers [for our low-end offering] in 3 years. In this situation we would not have time to administer a server or network. Minimal handholding. It's got to work right out of the box - never break and justify the subscription fees. I know of networks and 'custom applications' that [seemingly] run forever - every once in a while a printer goes down or a network card fails - but thats outsourced to local system shops. You can even get dispatched DBA services these days!

Plus: Each site will buy a VFP License! We hope they never have to break the seal [excpet for proof of purchase to buy an upgrade :)

>>Lots of 200M$ to 700M$ companies are in the less than fifty range - and many of them - don't have (or desire) an IT department or DBA. It seems there is a lot of room for DBF solutions in these kinds of shops.

>Just one of the many things I like about SQL Server is the ability to remotely administer the server. Add the IP address of the client's SQL Server to your Enterprise Mangler and you have complete control over the server from your desktop. You can provide DBA services and easily maintain the database from the comfort of your own desk without having to involve PC Anywhere or some other remote access method.
