About 20 years ago they were building wind powered electric generators about 50 miles east of San Francisco. You could invest in one if your income was at least $200,000 per year. At that time it cost more to generate electricity with the equipment used so the federal government paid the owners of generators for their loss. The owners also got a tax break. When traveling over freeway 580 you see these monsters which are not on all the time for whatever reason.

The things the tax payers pay for is amazing! Why do the rich get richer and the poor get poorer? :)
