We recently had a problem that cost us a flight to Cincinnati to resolve and I thought we would pass along the info. We use VFP 7.0 and Crystal Reports 8.0. We have a file cabinet option that houses enduser documents. The way we do this is to drop a MS Word object into a Crystal Report file and then set it to point to the document picked by the user.

We run this software all over the country, but 2 users could not print these documents. They would get an OLE error when the Crystal Viewer tried to load.

After several attempts to diagnose, we sent a developer on site (he hates to travel :)). Eventually he discovered that when he uninstalled Norton Anti Virus, our report viewer started working. Key - All the other reports worked with Norton installed. Only the ones with a Word object inserted errored.

Apparently, Norton saw the Word object inside a Crystal Viewer called from a Fox exe as a virus. Or something like that.

Hope this saves someone a trip to Cinci!!
