I have Norton System Works and it lets me run the program from the CD. Now you can't run everything from the CD, but you can run a good bit. I don't have the CD with me at work and I'm running Windows 2000 anyway. What system works lets you do varies with the OS. So, I can't tell you exactly.

Anyway, maybe your copy of Norton (if it's not just anti-virus) can run from the CD. If it lets you run WinDoctor or some of the things you'll find in Norton utilities, it might fix it.

However, I know it's a pain in the neck to do this, but if you're sure you have all the drivers etc, I'd back up the data, wipe out the drive and start all over.
