Adjust for resolution?

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone has any advice regarding screen resolution? I'm developing a VFP application which will be mass distributed to the general public. My development computer is set at a resolution of 800 by 600 pixels, which is optimal for my 15 inch monitor. Upon changing my computer's resolution, the VFP main system menu and my application objects appear smaller or larger (depending on the direction in which I change the resolution). Also, the font appearance changes and the relative positioning of objects is thrown off. Ideally, I would like the application's appearance to be consistent from user to user, in it's width, length, font size, and relative positioning of user-interface objects.

My question is this: What is the standard practice for handling this situation? Should I program my application to adjust to different resolutions? I've not seen any software programs or applications that actually adjust to different resolutions. If I don't program my app to make adjustments, which resolution should I use when laying out my application? Keep in mind that I'm using a 15 inch monitor.

Thanks for any advice

Dave
