You'd have to talk to the Windows UI folks about that; VFP simply inherits the default Windows behavior. I agree that when you have an Open dialog with a specific purpose such as GETPICT(), it'd be nice to default to the Thumbnail view. However, I'm not sure that's possible (have to check API). File an ER; it's not a bad idea if that's where you're going with this.
