As far as speed with PDF generation, I would look for a .dll solution. After going thru the pain and hacks of the Adobe PDF writer .EXE, I was looking for a much smoother and faster alternative - especially if your plans might include possibly running from a web server in the future.
I'm really impressed and having great results with the open source GhostScript .dll solution. The link I gave previously for the GhostScript .dll includes some great VFP public domain work from Paul James and Ed Rauh.
If money is not an obstacle, you might want to look at www.activePDF.com . They seem to have an impressive client list.
