It was a virus that caused me to last Freeman my own machine.

Something had whacked my anti-virus auto-start and by the time I realized it wasn't running, the virus had pretty well whacked the rest of my disk.

I literally watched winzip.exe disappear before my eyes. Reinstalled it and watched it disappear again.
