>>Is there a way to preclude the printing of a group header band? There are times when there will be no data in the band. I have set all of the individual fields within the band to print only if there is data and to remove line if blank, but I'm still left with space for the band (there are five rows of fields with space between each row -- I guess the spaces are not being eliminated). I was thinking of entering an expression in the 'on entry' of the band that would set the band height to 0 if the 'no data' condition was met, otherwise use whatever is in the height -- but I haven't figured out how to access this.

There's no need to create a new object. You can also take one of the existing objects and let that object fill the entire band, for example a name.
