It's a measurable fact that most Xbase developers do not have formal CompSci educations. You'd probably be suprised at some of the backgrounds that they do have. I suspect this is also true for VB and Delphi as well. I'd hypothesize that most developers using C/C++, Fortran, Cobol do have formal CompSci backgrounds.

Realize too that the crowd assembled here on the UT is probably weighted to the "has formal CompSci background" end of the spectrum.

It's not that these concepts are beyond the average Xbase programmer, they've just never been exposed to them.
