The only one I can see frequently causing problems might be DEFAULTSOURCE - I do not know what effect it might have if the printer supported multiple paper sources such as a manual sheet feed. I know it does have an effect when working with some specific label printers such as the Zebra and Eltron lines, which can change form handling when the DEFAULTSOURCE changes if options like the label cutter and peeler are installed on the printer - specific instances include a difference between the Zebra Z4000/Z6000 and the Eltron LP2348 with the label peeler option installed using continuous form labels.

If COLOR is not specified in the report definition, whether or not color printing is used is inherited from the Windows print device defaults; I think this is a general rule that can be counted on - I know that after removing the DEFAULTSOURCE entry from a report sent to our lasers, the paper bin is inherited from the Windows Printer Definition, letting us select output from paper in a specific bin by switching which Windows Printer is used to print a form; eg, I have two print queues for one of our 5si printers, which has plain paper in tray 2 and checks in tray 3. I select which is used by setting the printer to the queue named Checks for tray 3 or PlainPaper for tray 2.

If a feature like color is not natively supported by a printer, the GDI may attempt to render colors as shades of gray. You will likely have to work with the Windows Printer setup and perhaps the physical device setup routines to control things like autoswitching of bins as well - the problems are not isolated in VFP itself.
