PKs use is to uniquely identify a record and to use that to link to other data. If you use surrogate keys, as discussed in the article on my web site, you will never need to change them, as they are unrelated to the data and the user has no need to see them. IMO, this is the best way of doing PKs. If the user wants to identify a record by some other means, you can provide that as a Candidate Key.
