Alan;
I have a close friend who is a Professor of Philosophy. Philosophy is a subject I enjoy – especially the German philosophers. Imagine a study such as “the philosophy of programming”. It could take on so many directions and schools of thought. Yikes! I think we experience this in our day-to-day existence as programmers. VB is better than Quaker oats and all that sort of rot.
Now a specific area of philosophy that might be enjoyed is metaphysics. I like Will Durant’s definition of a metaphysician. That is “a person who knows everything about nothing”. That might also apply to someone who is in marketing or management. Be an expert at meaninglessness. Such a lofty goal. :)
