XP doesn't have VFP ODBC driver. Is ODBC no good?

I thought that using the connection string & the SQLSTRINGCONNECT command is the best way to go, since I like to have a DSN-less connection so that I do not have to worry about going to each user's computer to set it up. But since XP does not come installed with the ODBC driver needed to make this happen, I was just wandering about the future of this approach. Should I be considering some other way to connect to my databses? If so, what & how?
