Hi Mel:
>If you don't already have it, you might want to take a peek at "Inside Microsoft SQL Server 2000" by Kalen Delaney from Microsoft Press. It includes a copy of SQL Server 2000 on its CD (good for like 90 days I think) - so to me that was worth the price of the book.
I looked at it and it looks a good all rounder. I will probably buy it for reference, if nothing else. Many folks here have recommended it so its must be at least worth having it on the bookshelf.
>but you being a Pro you might not find it quite as useful.
Haha. Hardly a "Pro" but thanks anyway. I might be doing some SQL stuff for Dave so I need to get up to speed on 2000 having only owned/used SQL Server 7 previously. I've got 2000 on its way in a new MS subscription so they eval copy in the book is neither here nor there, except if you haven't got it, that is <g>.
>But, its a good Saturday morning read at 1,046 pages <g>.
Don't these books just get you! I have spent a small fortune on books and they all take a significant slug of time out of your life. There's not one thats under 500-600 pages and they are mostly in excess of 1000+ pages nowadays. By the time you've read it, there's a revision with another couple of hundred pages. If you can read this book on a Saturday morning, maybe you could teach me your speed reading technique <s>.
Later buddy.
