Thank you for your quick response. I tried using your example and it worked out great the first time. When I ran the .prg a second time to see if the program would "exit" upon finding my new column, I got an error message:

"Field name is a duplicate or invalid"

Any ideas as on how to just have the .prg exit back to the console with no messages?
