Does anyone have any experience updating PhDBase ghost indexes?

According to the docs, PHD("ixDel "+nRecno+" lcvariable") will delete the index reference for the passed recno and values. However, I can't get ixDel or ixAdd to actually do anything. They both return .t. and then I phd('flush'), but no change to the index. Well, the timestamp on the PHD index file is updated, but no change in seach results.
