I have developed several wireless application for the handheld computers. So far I have only used the IPaq 3700 and 3800 series. I had purchased the PCMCIA sleeve and a SMC Wireless cards. Also us the SMC wireless Access Point.
I connect to a web server using xmlhttp commands from the hand held. From there I forward my request to a SQL or FoxPro database. My web server gets the response from the Database and returns it to the hand held. This is the best way I have found to make a real time connection to a remote database, and it works well.
I have recently looked at the new Toshiba product that has everything built in. For the price you would think that it was the greatest deal ever. But the reviews have not been very promising. So for now I still plan with stick with the IPAQs. The cost is a little more but they have proven to be very reliable.
Plus, I use a card swipe with the IPAQ, and I have not been able to fine one that will hook up to the other Pocket Pc devices.
