>>I have a client who still runs a very large custom application in Foxpro DOS 2.6 on a Novell network. They are bying new computers and being told that DOS programs are not compatable with Windows XP. I've checked Microsoft knowledge base and found a couple of articles with some very specific things that aren't supported, but nothing to make me think the application won't run.

Printers assigned to non-standard ports often have to be shared and then mapped to standard LPT ports via NET USE, and redirecting ao actually in use by a local printer is problematic - eg mapping a network printer to LPT1: when there is a physical printer on LPT1: locally. You need to configure the availability of EMS/XMS/DPMI in the DOS session according to the version of FPDOS in use.

Hi Ed,

I'm passing a question from somebody else. In the conversion routine from FPD to VFP the SET DISPLAY TO VGA25 command was issued. Now all the screens look differently. The person asking the question didn't find a way to revert back to original settings. Do you know, how this problem could be addressed?

Thanks in advance.
If it's not broken, fix it until it is.
