As I said Yuri, the "key field" is not only one, but a combination of two diferent fields from two different tables X & Y. User selects a record from table X (its key), and a record from table Y. With the 2 keys I form the third table key. I'll try the second thought usin SQL-UPDATE. thank you

>First, why is the user allowed to edit a unique key field? I would prohibit that entirely which would stop the error from possibly occuring. Second, in addition to Yuri's comments, have you tried changing the default update method from 'SQL DELETE then INSERT' to 'SQL UPDATE'? Just a thought
