>I'm getting a lot of information from this thread but what none regarding a commitment of somekind from Microsoft... They just maintain the product alive. I saw VFP 8 and I think that Microsoft should bet more on VFP. They would win more than any other tools.
Luc,
VFP 8 will be out first quarter next year. Ken Levy and the Fox team are already accepting wish list items for VFP 9. Using the past development cycle as a reference, that pushes VFP out to 2004/2005. WRT to future versions beyond that, that will most likely depend on the number of upgrades for VFP 8.
VFP 7 wasn't an overwhelming upgrade success most likely due to the major enhancements being in the development environment. There weren't many reasons for applications to upgrade. VFP 8 has many features that enhance the capabilities of the product that can be used in the runtime (e.g. CursorAdapter, as you mentioned). This makes things that were previously difficult or impossible, easy or probable, IMO.
As some others have suggested, send Ken an e-mail. I'm sure he would respond to this situation. Something sent directly to your director might hold more weight than simply printing various messages by Ken and presenting them to him/her.
Good luck!
