I am connecting to both Foxpro tables and SQL Server 7 but not 2000. Sorry.
However,I found a knowledgebase article that seems to be referring to the problem you are facing. The link to the MS knowledge base article is

They are talking about this eror ocurring when you have a LIKE statement in you SQL command.
