Well it was just a wild guess, but I'm theorizing that the text somehow got selected without appearing to be selected. Explicitly unselecting would cover that possibility. As to the trailing newline, broaden that to cover the issue of variations in the way that newlines are expressed (i.e. CR/LF), and consider the possibility of an imbedded special character that isn't displaying. I wonder if selecting the resultant editbox/textbox contents (after the 2nd paste) and pasting it into something else, or checking its length might reveal any surprises. That's all that comes to mind offhand. Sorry if it's no help.
