PMFJI,

But the help file of VFP8 does (implicitely) mention support for Windows NT 4.0 in various occasions:

You can create and distribute run-time applications for Windows 98, Windows Me, Windows 2000 Service Pack 2 or later, and Windows XP.
Note Installation on Windows NT 4.0 Terminal Server Edition is not supported

Which gives me the impression that other than in NT 4.0 TS, it should run fine. Also from the GDI section:

Note GDI+ is installed with the Windows XP operating system and is required to run Visual FoxPro. Visual FoxPro includes a merge module for redistribution with custom applications running on Windows 98, Windows Me, Windows NT 4.0, and Windows 2000 platforms.

Another clue that normally Windows NT 4.0 should be supported. In fact this Windows message is named various times in the Help file.

Walter,

>>>The VFP8beta run-time applications are supported by MS for Windows 98, Windows Me, Windows 2000 Service Pack 2 or later, and Windows XP. As you can see Windows NT and Windows 95 are not on the list.

>>I've a suspicion that some versions of both Win95 and NT may be supportable in some cases, if the issue is with the updated Shell components that accompanied IE 4.01; applying IE 4.01 was the only way to get these shell components in place for NT and some versions of Win95, and rather than guarenteeing that you'd be able to run VFP8 apps under the runtime based on this dependency, MS might have decided to exclude the environments that were questionable from their active support. Someone will have to do a good deal of expoerimentation to see what things could be added to the environments that might allow them to be used; I'm planning to avoid putting up VFP8 apps on these platforms and take MS's word on it.

>I think you're right about the Shell issues. Certainly, GDI+ enters into it as well. I am wondering, however, if XP Home is excluded as a design platform. I only saw XP Pro listed. I realize that there is at least one limitation, namely the lack of IIS. The questions remains, however, is that the only limitation?
