I've had problems with all of these printer drivers from HP - in the case of the 8100 and 8150, reverting to the MS-supplied HP 5si driver fixed the problem with a slight loss of printer features that did not affect our operation.

I know the 8150 PCL 6 driver incorporates the host GDI layer in its rendering process.

The first time (after adding back the Color LaserJet driver), it worked -- issuing GETPRINTER() displayed the dialog -- but I can't reproduce that now. It's failing every time I add any of the printers, regardless of whether there is one driver defined or many.

I'd try uninstalling all the printers, and then add back the 8550 and 8100, and see if the problems stay away. This would isolate the problem to the PCL 6 driver for the 8150. HP apparently has now enabled a different mechanism for handling FPU errors, resulting in a whole new set of error messages on top of their old C5 errors.

>>>Can't really give you any more information than is in the title. All I have to do is launch VFP7, type GETPRINTER() in the command window and hit Enter, and voila! A fatal error C0000005, with no more useful information than that. I rebooted the machine and tried again, but still get the error.

>>>Other applications don't have any trouble giving me a printer list, and other machines on this network seem to be working just fine. Any ideas on how to proceed? Any help you can offer would be greatly appreciated!
>>
>>I can't duplicate the problem on a Win98, Win2K or WinXP workstation with SP1 installed; if you have not yet applied the SP1 patch, I'd try that. What OS are you running, what is the base hardware, and which printers have been installed according to the Windows Printer applet?
